SUCCESS STORIES
Dennis,
First I want to say that I have never met anyone with the drive to improve the beef industry as much as you. As far as a success story, I could fill up more than one page. I guess I could start with the first three cows I bought with the GVC prefix. Of these first three cows, two were good producers. The cheapest cow of the three (618) turned out to be the best and raised a good calf at fifteen years old from a good udder. This cow raised a bull out of Slick 50 that my neighbor and I bred to at least forty cows per year and sometimes sixty. My neighbor says he is the best bull in Oklahoma.
The best success story of all has to be the Northern Improvement Angus cow I bought as a heifer calf. She is the mother to the Hard Core cow that raised Scooby. Scooby being the Suh son I raised and has already been more than any animal I have ever been associated with.
Thanks for the memories you have created for me and my family.

Our family has had the honor and privilege of knowing Dennis & Sandra Garwood and family for several years. We are truly blessed and thankful for the family like relationship we have shared with them.We purchased our first GVC herd bull back in 1990 and have used GVC genetics in our herd ever since. Our grandchildren Kassi & Kolbi Rice are proud to have shown a GVC heifer each year. They have been very successful in the show ring and they are females that are getting the job done in the pasture as momma cows.
You aren't going to find nicer more honest people to deal with. One must appreciate the fact that their records are accurate, upfront and honest. Dennis has extreme knowledge about every animal in his program. They have set very high standards for quality and continue to pave the way for the Maine-Anjou breed, paying attention to detail, maternal traits, polled homozygous black and solid pattern, EPD's and phenotypically correct honest cattle.
If you are looking for high quality uniform cattle that have eye appeal for the showring and still perform for all segments of the beef industry we strongly encourage you to look at Green Valley Cattle - you won't be disappointed.
Sincerely, Merle & Merna Schrage Kyle, Mary, Kassi & Kolbi Rice

Dennis,
We have been absolutely impressed with the quality and consistency of our first set of GVC Suh calves. They combine plenty of muscle, growth, and soundness, along with ample style and balance, to make them functional cattle for both seedstock breeders and commercial producers. We will continue to use Suh in both our E.T. and A.I. programs.

Dennis,
I thought I would drop you a note regarding our 2010 female purchases. The cows are doing very well and the Lot 45 bred heifer we purchased for $4,000 just produced a purebred 1-80 steer that we sold for $4,000 to Texas.
Thanks Again, Brent SieckSieck Club Calves | Martell, NE |
I grew up a few miles from the Garwood family and have known them all my life. I ended up in Oklahoma in 1996 never knowing that our paths would cross several times for the future.
We searched several blood lines when we first started breeding Maine-Anjou cattle. We wanted show ring style but we didn’t want to give up performance or maternal traits. We assessed his cow herd and saw what we wanted to build in our own herd.
We have used GVC Sires with great success. Dennis Garwood has built a very sound Maine program. His cattle are attractive, but they also have to work for a living. Dennis isn’t afraid to help his customers achieve their goals. That is also a reason why we endorse the GVC herd code. If you like who you are doing business with, you will like their cattle too.

Dennis,
I wanted to let you know that we have had great success with the females we purchased on last year' s female sale. All of the females calved out easily and did a great job of raising their calves. We feel that a few of the calves out the cows we purchased last year more than paid for their mothers already including a new herd sire prospect and a top female. We are very exicted about their genetic potential and are looking forward to utilizing them with in our herd.
Here is a little bit of information on the cows that we purchased:
The 577R Nasa daughter had a very attractive Suh heifer that is one of the best we had this year. The194L Jethro daughter had a Closing Bell bull in May that we are very excited about and will likely be kept for our new herd sire. The W08 Angus heifer had a Final Answer bull calf that is nice and has sparked interest of visitors. Finally, 643S Forecast had a First Impression heifer that is very attractive and will kept in our replacement pen.
Thanks again, Colton BuusB2U Stock | Lennox, SD |
Garwood Family,
I hope the summer has treated you well. As time grows on and gets closer to the end of September, I get more and more excited thinking about my chance to show off my calf challenge steer, Dakota. If you do not know, this is my first time showing a beef animal and Dakota and I have had a pretty good run, I would say. I have shown Dakota at many open class, 4-H, and FFA shows…
My steer has competed against another Catch A Calf in our area. It is nice to compete just to see who each other are doing and how the progress is going. I am thrilled to see the other 19 calves and see their growth from November 2011 to September 2012. I have learned so much from the Calf Challenge program and am bummed I cannot participate in it again, but I am thankful. When people ask me about my steer and want me to explain AK-SAR-BEN and Calf Challenge, I go on and on, talking with excitement about the awesome experience I have had. I cannot express my thankfulness to have a ranch like you to help me have this opportunity and I will never forget. I hope I will see you in Omaha at AK-SAR-BEN 2012 and I will be able to meet you and thank you in person.
Take care, Erin Larson
